So, I updated…no…I upgraded…that works, but not the word I am looking for. I migrated a blog from blogger to WordPress 2.1 today…and I have to tell ya, it was a breeze!
I had been stressing over all of the problems that I had been having with blogger and it’s lack of customization. I would always have to go to the templates and manually add code for things like feedburner but settings in blogger would override the manual settings I changed. So then I tried changing the feed address in blogger to be the feedburner address, but that would cause feedburner to try and read itself. It was pretty damn annoying and too much of a pain!
They key to it was installing the Import new blogger to WordPress Plugin. The name could use a little work.
Ok, I know what you are going to say…”if you hate blogger so much, why are you using it to write this post?!?” Honestly, I don’t know! hehe

I’ve gone through Friendster, Xanga, MySpace and a few others, but it wasn’t until 2 months ago that I actually started “blogging.”
November, 2006 is when I set up my first blog, with the intention of blogging. Well, actually, I was testing it before setting up my corporate blog. Then I decided to keep the first blog and use it for web design.
The Enterprise Resource Services Blog was and still is being used to keep people updated about new job openings and other business related info.
Around that same time, I happened to help someone at work with a problem she was having while using excel. This gave me the bright idea of making a tips and tricks blog since it wasn’t web-related and I didn’t want to post it on the Enterprise Resource Services Blog.
Up to that point, I had only been using blogger, but I wanted more control and customization so I decided to try WordPress on my Tech and Electronics Review Blog. Again, it was only supposed to be for testing at first, but I loved WordPress so much that I began posting only to my Tech and Electronics Review Blog and almost forgot about the first 3 blogs.
So, at this point I have 4 blogs, and plan to implement 3 more blogs for other companies. Each of those companies, needs to be trained (some more than others) on how to use a blog. Also, I will probably need to help them out at first with some tutorials and ideas on how they can fully take advantage of these “New” technologies.
I am having enough trouble managing 4 blogs on my own, but adding 3 more to my load seems crazy! Not to mention, the fact that these companies are in different industries and since they do not have any prior blogging experience, nor do they have a regularly updated newsletter, they don’t realize how much work is involved with these tasks.
Now that I think about it, blogs weren’t made to do what I am looking for. What I am really looking for is a CMS that can handle multiple clients separately while still allowing those separate clients to collaborate on projects through the same interface. Also, a plug-in for posting job openings and receiving resumes would complete the package.
If you have used a CMS like this and have any recommendations, please let me know!! Thanks for taking the time out to read this entire post!

I finally migrated my news script over to MySQL after all this time. I had been putting it off for so long mainly because I thought I would have problems and have to re-script the entire thing….but I was wrong! I did however forget the DSN syntax but after a quick search, I found ADO Connection Strings which is pretty thorough on connection strings. Also, I found Lotus Notes connection strings for NotesSQL which may come in handy some day.

I’m trying to finish up a server and when I go to install Windows I get stopped dead in my tracks. Then, after rustling through old dusty boxes in search for the missing link to my puzzle, I stop [Sigh] then download pebuilder and make a Windows install with the correct drivers. Too much time has been wasted…I must get back to the task at hand. I’m off!

Everywhere I turn, all I see is, “Content is King!” But I’ve always left that job for the other guy. I am too critical of every single word that I type. Every sentence I type, I stop at some word and think, then re-think of any other way to say it….mainly because I believe that the first thing I was going to type wasn’t going to make sense. then, since I stopped in the middle of my sentence, I lose track of what I was originally talking about and I never end up getting my point across.
